Leader of the Brazilian confectionery market in several categories, and even ahead of the multinationals Kraft and Mars, Dori Alimentos keeps on investing high to maintain this position and go further, much further.

Founded in 1967 by Mrs Doraci dos Santos Spila – so the name Dori -,the company has three plants, two in Marília, in the countryside of São Paulo, and one in Rolândia, in the State of Paraná. Together these units produce about 9,000 tons of product a month like gums, chocolate candy, candies, lollipops, bubble gums, caramels and peanuts thatsupply all over Brazil and also are exported to over 60 countries, complying with stringent quality standards and in conformity with the international standards, such as those of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The foreign market is so important to Dori that the company intend to open in the USA (a country that already receives 35% of its exports) a plant and/or a distribution center. Moreover, to standout in the largest and most competitive market of sweets of the world, Dori has hired a local consultancy in order to map the opportunities and, this way, to extend the success of its sweeties to American retail vendors and consumers.

Meanwhile, Dori takes other measures to make its brand even stronger and achieve a net revenue of R$550 million in 2014. Last year, for example, when it made R$385 million, the company exchanged 22% of its portfolio of products, showing all its dynamism and innovative spirit. The novelties include creative launches like peanuts confectioned with white chocolate, Warner Bros. licensesand special packaging.

Another great trump is the Innovation and Technology Center, which will become a referencein the sector’s research. The center is being built in Mairinque (SP), in anarea of 1,793 m², and it will be responsible for the qualification of its employees, residue treatment and relationship with the academic world in order to develop projects and experiments that assure additional differentials. The new unit is a result of an investment of R$13.6 million funded by Finep – Innovation and Research (a government financial company on studies and projects), and that will also be target to other actions, one of them considered revolutionary.

But the real thing are the incomparable flavors of products like the candies Gomets and Disqueti, the Pettiz peanut and the Yogurte100 lollipop, that make Dori’s reputation. It’s only little in its name.
